What are the Energy Data Hackdays?

Hackdays or hackathons have been a proven and successful method since the 1990s to explore new ideas, design prototypes, reframe challenges, and advance innovation through co-creation—going further together than alone.

Data is becoming a key resource in the energy sector. Unlocking synergies, offering new services, and generating insight through data analysis is a shared goal of companies, public institutions, and their customers.

Hackathons bring together a diverse mix of stakeholders—data analysts, programmers, interdisciplinary students, and experts—who collaborate on early-stage solutions and drive innovation forward.

The Energy Data Hackdays have become the leading national gathering for innovators in the Swiss energy sector. Two full days dedicated to open innovation and collaboration.

Partner organizations present real-world challenges related to energy. Participants tackle these using data, creativity, and teamwork.

Key topics include:

  • The energy grid as an interface to the smart city/community
(The role of intelligent and smart networks)
  • Understanding and integrating the needs of end-users
  • The role of the transmission grid in a decentralized energy system
  • Ensuring supply security with decentralized systems and more actors
  • The impact of mobility on energy infrastructure
  • Managing increasing data volumes in a sensitive environment
(Ensuring data security and enabling data-driven public services)
  • Connecting network planning/asset management with urban development

  • Expand your network with diverse contacts from the scene
  • Work with like-minded people on a project idea that is close to your heart
  • Find out more about new developments in the energy sector
  • Present a project idea and motivate the experts to develop it further with you
  • The Hackdays results remain the property of the team
  • We adhere to the hackcodeofconduct.org
